Terms of Service
Effective September 15, 2026
These terms govern the use of Ecclesia, the scheduling and communications software operated by Jeffrey Lange, a sole proprietor doing business as Ecclesia. Using Ecclesia means accepting these terms.
The service
Ecclesia lets a Christadelphian ecclesia plan its events, assign the duties those events need, publish the schedule, and send reminders and notices to its members. Ecclesia is provided free of charge. There is no fee, no subscription, and no advertising.
Who may use Ecclesia
Ecclesia is for members of a participating ecclesia. An account is created by an administrator of that ecclesia, or by the user themselves during sign up. An account belongs to one person, who is responsible for their own account, and keeping their password secret.
Acceptable use
A member must not:
- use another member's account, or give their own to somebody else;
- use contact details found in Ecclesia to send marketing, or for any purpose other than the service of the ecclesia;
- interfere with the operation or security of the service;
- upload unlawful material, or material a member has no right to share.
Text messaging terms
- Program description
- Ecclesia may send text messages to members of a participating ecclesia about the events and duties in that member's own schedule: reminders before an event, notices when an assignment changes, announcements from the member's ecclesia administrators, and emergency notices such as a cancellation. These message are sent only to members who explicitly opt-in to receive such messages. Ecclesia sends no marketing or promotional text messages.
- How a member joins
- Text messages are off until a member turns them on. The member enters the number to be texted, presses Send code, and enters the six-digit code Ecclesia texts to that number. Pressing Send code requests a one-time verification text. No recurring Ecclesia notifications are sent until the member enters the code and completes opt-in.
- Message frequency
- Message frequency varies. It depends on how often a member is scheduled to serve and how the member has configured their notifications.
- Cost
- Ecclesia charges nothing for text messages. Message and data rates may apply from the member's mobile carrier.
- How a member cancels
- Reply STOP to any message to stop all messages. A member can also switch text messages off in their notification settings. A member who has stopped messages can start again by turning text messages back on.
- How a member gets help
- Reply HELP to any message, or write to ecclesia1948@gmail.com, or submit feedback through the app's feedback form.
- Carriers
- Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed, and a member should not rely on a text message as the only source of urgent information.
- Privacy
- Ecclesia does not sell, rent or share phone numbers or text-message consent with third parties for marketing. The privacy policy and the text messaging policy state this in full.
Ecclesia sends email about events, duties and account matters. A member controls which email notifications they receive in their notification settings. Email needed to operate an account, such as a password reset, is always sent.
Information and privacy
The privacy policy states what information Ecclesia collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and how a member has it corrected or removed. It forms part of these terms.
Availability and warranty
Ecclesia is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. The service may be unavailable, and a notification may be delayed or fail to arrive. An ecclesia should keep its own record of its schedule.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of Ecclesia, including a missed event or an undelivered notification.
Suspension and termination
An ecclesia administrator can remove a member's account. The operator can suspend an account that breaks these terms or threatens the security of the service. A member can ask for their account to be closed by writing to the address below.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the new version appears on this page with a new effective date.
